Creative At Heart Conference | Personal | Roanoke, Virginia

Jenna Mugridge

These past few days have been life-changing for me! This weekend, I was very fortunate to attend round two of Creative at Heart in Roanoke, Virginia. I mentioned previously that I had signed up and was really looking forward to it, and boy did this weekend sneak up on me quick! I can't even sum up all of the exciting details about this event, but I will certainly try!

In case you didn't know, Creative at Heart is a two-day conference that brings all types of creatives and small business owners together to create a supportive community and provide priceless information to each individual to better their small business. I can't even tell you how amazing it was to surround myself with people who just GET IT. As a small business owner working from home, I can tell you how lonely it can be when there's no one to talk to about the industry, the ups, the downs...to nerd out on paper with. This was different. I had the opportunity to bond with like-minded people. Ladies who understood me and had the same future goals as me, and it was AWESOME.

The two days were packed with a lineup of amazing and well-respected speakers, all whom I have followed and adored for years. We also had a chance to break out into groups where we could ask any and all questions with our mentors. I was literally fan-girling the whole time when I met Laura JosephBonnie BakhtiariLauren Hooker, and Jessica Clinch, y'all. There were talks of social media, SEO, and email organization...but most importantly, how to overcome competition and build your confidence. These speeches really hit me hard and resonated deep within my soul. They were full of inspirational quotes and were exactly what I needed to hear to give me the confidence and motivation to keep pushing forward with my business. I left with a notebook full of invaluable information and a wealth of new knowledge that I know will motivate me to dig deeper into my business and express my brand in a way that reflects who I am.

By the way, how awesome are these headshot photos from Amanda Hedgepeth ?!

If you ever have the opportunity to attend Creative at Heart, if you are ever questioning if this is something you should invest in....I am telling you now, it is the best thing you can do for yourself and your business! I met so many new friends and had personal conversations with some of the women who I look up to dearly and I was able to make connections and learn new things that I never thought was possible. We cried, we laughed, and we celebrated each others successes wholeheartedly. Creative at Heart is an uplifting community. Its an eye-opening and powerful movement that is unlike any other. It's goal is to support each other with open books with our hearts on our sleeves. I love it so much because it strives on community over competition, and that is something that is very hard to come by. I can't wait to see how this experience will truly change my life, not only for my business, but for myself personally.

I left with new friends who I am rooting for, and I know we will stick together to help see each other succeed. I cannot thank Dear Sweetheart Events for realizing the need for this in our industry and putting together such an amazing conference for all of us creatives.
